Tomorrow, Donald Trump will be inaugurated at the 47th president, and I am happy about that. I’m not only happy, I’m ecstatic. I’m so much so that I took a day off tomorrow, and I will be ordering some steamed buns via doordash and celebrating as much as anyone can celebrate an event like this.
It has not just been a national nightmare, but a personal nightmare as well.
Biden has brought us the closest to nuclear war we have been in a very long time. He has destroyed, or at least significantly damaged, this country in significant ways, and he cannot be out of office soon enough. The amount of personal stress he caused me by wondering whether we’d all be annihilated in a nuclear holocaust probably took years off my life (though towards the end I became far less worried – for reasons I may go into later).
I’ll be honest. I did not vote for Trump. I voted third party. I am lucky to live in a (relatively) conservative county in Texas where my vote really didn’t matter all that much, so I could afford to vote my conscience. If my vote had mattered more, the calculus might have been different. But it doesn’t really matter, in the end. Trump won, he beat that drunk, incompetent woman whose only claim to electability was that she wasn’t Trump, and now we all get to reap the benefits.
Now, let me be clear: Trump is not perfect. He is not going to make all the right decisions. In fact, he’s going to screw up, and maybe even a lot (this is why I didn’t vote for him). But compared to Biden and Harris, he’s pretty much literally a saviour.
(I don’t consider him literally a saviour, this is only in comparison).
I’m looking forward to seeing what the next four years will bring, devoid of Biden and Harris’ incompetent, drunk, and dementia ridden rot. I hope we continue to see “wokeness” get destroyed, abortion become the rare thing it should have been all along, this country being returned to the greatness that it once was (even though it has always been and always will be flawed), and I, for one, am prepared to accept a few minor presidential fuck-ups to have Biden and Harris’ legacy permanently destroyed.
Our long national nightmare is over.
